Past time, really.
Each time a mass shooting occurs, we say something will change… And nothing changes. But this time feels different. . This time, our children are leading the way. Let’s follow them. This time, our children refuse to let us ignore the issue. Let’s maintain our focus on the problem. This time, our children demand action. Let’s recognize this is our collective responsibility and DO SOMETHING NOW. We owe our children a solution. Let’s follow them toward a moment of national reason. Somewhere between destroying every gun and arming every teacher, there is a middle ground. Don’t let the moment pass. TALK. Find the Purple Points. Polls suggest there are many... WHAT ARE THEY? Let's find out and let our representatives know... For our children. -The Purple Living Room Team

Last week, we asked you to send hearts to your friends for Valentine's Day and invite them to join a purple conversation. This week, our hearts are BROKEN once again by senseless violence in our schools. Our children deserve better than this. They are demanding action. Will we listen? Will we change? The Purple Living Room Project is committed to helping find common ground on the issue of Guns in America. This will be our focus issue from now until... SOMETHING ACTUALLY CHANGES. Or print a copy (gasp!) and give it to someone in person! How many people do you know that might be ready to think purple? Invite your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, and sweethearts to the conversation. While you're at it, invite them to join our facebook group ... This Valentine's Day, share the love and spread the word about the Purple Living Room Project! -The Purple Living Room Team This week brings us to the final element of the Purple Living Room Project... The Purple Living Room Project models at a local level what productive conversations could look like in our representative assemblies.
Following our Congress in action is like watching a tug-of-war. Whoever is in power pulls as hard as they can. Sometimes they pull the other side across the line far enough to get something accomplished. Then it's time for another election and the other side pulls as hard as they can. Everyone tugs and tugs and tugs toward their own position. Nothing moves forward and we all are losers. Contacting congress with your Purple Points is a small way to take action. Tell your State and National representatives where you found points of agreement. Sharing your Purple Points with Congress lets those in power know that We the People value conversation and compromise. Be sure to send the letter or e-mail from your entire discussion group... Let's raise our voices together in a purple chorus for change! -The Purple Living Room Team |
